The apartment is nice, it could be cleaner. Wash the floor, not just vacuum and wipe the dust from the furniture more often. At the time of our stay, the adjacent building was being renovated. Noisy environment. Excellent location.

Very pleasant stay
The apartment is very cozy, with lots of facilities… location just in the old city center. It’s a great option if you travel to Funchal. And the view from the balcony is amazing. I will book the apartment again.

Everything was outstanding and we had a great time
Absolutely spot on location right in the very best part of the old town. Cable car is literally less than a five minute walk. We had incredible choice of restaurants right on the doorstep and three or four local grocers for some cold beers for the balcony. Parking was really easy with free use of a local underground car park Apartment was spotlessly clean. Views from the apartment were amazing and we had a great time.

Perfect Place in Madeira
Highly recommend! Great Host, easy checkin/out, clean, good amenities, nice apartment. The best is the location, the ambiance, the balcony with views and music from the streets. We visited with two kids and they loved it also with access to Ocean for swimming (and snorkeling) across the street. Grocery nearby and everything else you could need.

Conveniently located apartment
The company is helpful and responsive. The apartment is in the heart of the old town with many nearby restaurants, shops and attractions, which makes it noisy at times although the apartment has good shutters and windows that cut the noise out at night. The fixtures and fittings and furniture in the apartment are cheap and sometimes wobbly. We were bothered by mosquitoes throughout our stay - the company kindly provided a bottle of spray when we requested it but we needed pretty much a bottle a day which helped to keep the bugs at bay, but only to a certain extent. Free parking is provided in the car park up the road but it would be helpful if the company advised guests not to park in the spaces in front of the building marked with the letter M (this can incur a large fine). Once we had worked out how to use it, the washing machine was a real bonus. The wifi was very good.

Modern appartment with amazing view, but a bit noisy
We were during curfew, even then some people were passing by shouting in the middle of the night, truck taking trash containers during the night near by - very very noisy... so not possible to sleep with open windows. Otherwise would be 5/5.

Love this apartment and location
We have been to this apartment twice and Zona Velha 111 once. The apartment is spacious, clean, freshly decorated, and has the added facilities of an excellent small washing machine and a dishwasher. The location is excellent, right on the edge of the old town with it's narrow streets and lots of good restaurants. The sea view and the fact that the old fort is right next door are added benefits. Another plus is the fact that the walk right along the sea front to the harbour is flat, not one hill to encounter. Plenty of towels are available, and as we stayed two weeks the cleaning facility in the middle was a bonus. Small snags are the stairs, one has to be fit, the traffic noise at the back of the property, earplugs essential to get to sleep, and the facility to dispose of rubbish in bins that are permanently overflowing with no facility to recycle. There are also no instructions on how to use the TV or list of programmes in various languages, similarly the washing machine instructions which are, naturally, all in Portuguese. The agent did run over all the instructions, but after a very early rise and the flights, etc, it is difficult to take everything in.This time we found the water pressure poor, it took ages to shower with the pathetic flow of water. We also found the supply of dishes and glasses had diminished, we bought six small tumblers which we left for other guests to use. However, saying all that, we will probably return and hope that some of the issues have been addressed.

A great little apartment
This was our second visit to this apartment in the heart of the old town, and we enjoyed it as much as the first time. Everything was very clean and well presented: we were given an excellent welcome and knew we could contact the office if we needed to. We were able to cook many of our meals in the apartment as a supermarket is within easy walking distance. However when we chose to eat out we were spoilt for choice with the number of restaurants, cafes and bars near at hand. There was a little street noise but that is part of the character of being in the middle of things: nothing lasted too late at night or started too early in the morning. We have already booked for next year!

Great stay in a lovely apartment
Just back from a great two weeks in Zona Velha ll. The apartment was ideal for the two of us: clean, modern and equipped with everything we could need for our stay. We were warmly welcomed by Carolina who showed us round. The apartment is ideally situated in the old town with a lovely view of the sea, without being too noisy. We ate on most evenings: food shopping is easy as there is a supermarket in walking distance. However when we didn't want to do that there are plenty of restaurants to chose from a few minutes from the door. We would recommend the apartment to anyone

Ligia was excellent to deal with. The flat was actually as shown, very clean and well eguiped. The location was very good.. Ligia organized airport transfers which were punctual and friendly. Overall a great experience. We will be back and will stay here again

Super location and cozy apartment
To our opinion, Zona Velha II is even cozier than Zona Velha III as apartment. It has a very nice living room with two big window doors to the balcony, an open kitchen, one double bedroom and one extra couchbed in a separate space with slide curtains. Bathroom with shower cabin and window to open. The view is also somehow even nicer than from Zona Velha III, although the balcony is pretty narrow. You see more of the surroundings. Both apartments are very bright and decorated with good taste and delightful colours. There are plenty of cushions and seats. The only thing in Zona Velha II was an odd smell sometimes, perhaps damp on some spot in the wall or floor. Also we would have preferred twin beds. When you turn in your sleep, the matrimonial mattress oscillates throughout - but other people prefer a double bed :-)

This is a lovely, clean, airy apartment with wonderful views. Situated at the end of the Old Town of Funchal, next door to the very historic old Fort, with many eating places close by. The stairs are a trifle steep to apts. 2 and 3, but apparently a hand rail will be fitted soon. The furniture and bed were very comfortable and clean, with a nice bathroom and good shower. Kitchen was well fitted with china and cutlery and some utensils. The dishwasher worked well, but would have benefitted from an instruction manual. Only complaints were lack of any kind of information provided, no instruction manuals for dishwasher, cooking hob,TV (which did not get any stations except local), where to empty bins, local information or maps, or, importantly, fire instructions or emergency contacts. Also, I think some cleaning materials could have been provided, there was absolutely nothing except dishwasher tablets, which is not conducive to keeping the bathroom or kitchen clean. However, overall, a lovely apartment, great location, and my partner and I would, in fact WILL return!

We really enjoyed our trip. The appartment was clean and comfortable and in a perfect spot in the old town. Good views of the harbour and easy reach of so many good restaurants. If I had to comment I would say that for people arriving late it would be nice to have some milk, bread or cake in store. There was coffee left, but as like many english people, we prefer coffee with milk! This was not a serious issue and in no way spoilt our stay. I thoroughly recommend it for 2 people. 4 would be a bit difficult unless they were related!

Great situation for the Old Town restaurants and lovely balcony overlooking the Old Fort and the sea. Flat is very comfortable. A few small drawbacks: 1. Very noisy after midnight with drunks in the street almost every night - bring earplugs. 2. No handrail on the stairs. 3. There is a dishwasher but no washing machine, though the fittings are there for one. 4. The intercom/bell on the outer door doesn't work, which meant our taxi to the airport went away because we didn't answer when he rang.

The apartment was great - spacious, comfortable, well-equipped, and well-designed and furnished. The views from the balcony were a huge pleasure - all kinds of human activity against a continually changing backdrop of sea and sky. On both counts, the website photos didn't do it justice (it is not often you can say that!). The location was also excellent in terms of access to local shops, restaurants, sea swimming and sites of interest. The only drawback was the level of night-time noise in the bedroom: vehicles on Rua Santa Maria with very noisy exhausts, made worse by excessive speed and the cobbled surface, plus garbage trucks recycling glass bottles very late at night, and some very noisy parties at the Fort (until 3am our first night!). Unless something can be done at source, maybe the answer is air-con in the bedroom so that the windows can be closed to keep night-time noise tolerable? This is our only reason for not giving Zona Velha II an 'Excellent' rating.
